Stride8600000 ::: Favorites do you know the documentary these few minutes are coming from? 07-06-18 16:41:25 _____________________________________________________
bandrunner57 ::: Favorites This is from a documentary that came out in 1986 It's called Piano Legends. and yes Chick Corea is the "host". the company is VIA (video Artists international. They released at least 3 that I remember. Trumpet Kings hosted by Wynton, and Reed Royalty hosted by Branford. On trumpet Kings there is an unbeilevable clip of Harry James playing his concerto for Trumpet. 07-06-21 10:28:56 _____________________________________________________
Rogere76 ::: Favorites Lena Horne is the girl in the striped T-Shirt . 07-06-25 14:17:06 _____________________________________________________
shelim23 ::: Favorites I'm gonna buy that DVD just for that short clip of Art Tatum!! 07-06-27 18:48:08 _____________________________________________________
shelim23 ::: Favorites I also read that was just a warm up piece he did called Tinys Excercise. 07-06-27 18:51:07 _____________________________________________________
Petittle ::: Favorites Is this documentary still avaible? I´m from Germany and I don´t find nothing at Amazon. 07-06-27 20:05:37 _____________________________________________________
gdevane ::: Favorites Great clip! That's NOT Lena Horne in the striped shirt though. That's a dancer that appears in several Fat's Waller clips. Fats was such a great composer. Jitterbug Waltz is one of my favorites along with many others. 07-06-28 22:59:20 _____________________________________________________
flyme2 ::: Favorites Striped-shirt singer is Ada Brown, somehat lookalike of Lena Horne. Both appeared in film "Stormy Weather," whence this clip came, and it's the reason for the mixup in identities from what I understand. Good FW info on personnel, dates, recordings, etc at unclewart dot com slash fats slash waller dot html 07-06-30 16:28:35 _____________________________________________________
LatePianist ::: Favorites Im a huge fan of Fats ^_^ I love his comical style and personality. He was also a fantastic pianist. Art is simply incomparable. Im pretty sure ive heard that tune on one of his albums. Does anyone have the rest of this documentary. I believe Oscar Peterson was about to play Place St. Henri and I would love to hear what Chick had to say about him. 07-07-08 19:55:04 _____________________________________________________
x1soundgarden1x ::: Favorites thanks for posting the footage. But man, what terrible hosting. 07-07-20 18:36:09 _____________________________________________________ |
