Description: Pakistan's prime Minister has confirmed up to 500 people have been arrested across the country, in a crackdown which began after the President declared a state of emergency. Speaking at a media conference during the past hour, the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said the elections, which has been scheduled for January, could be delayed for up to a year. But he added that the government hasn't yet made any decision. President Musharraf says the move follows what he calls 'rising Islamic extremism'. Owen Fay has more on the days events. |

TAMARLANE ::: Favorites Depending on where the support for insurrection is centered in Pakistan, it may open the opportunity for the forces in Afghanistan to actually come into the sovereign territory of Pakistan, to fight against the Taliban and to find and destroy what is there of Al Qaeda. 07-11-05 01:35:24 __________________________________________________
vasw2 ::: Favorites Musharraf may be greedy but he is certainly not stupid. The nukes will never end up with Al-qaeda, for 2 good reasons: > there are no nukes > Musharraf is going to push the Al-Qaeda back to Afghanistan 07-11-05 01:28:30 __________________________________________________
Zile77 ::: Favorites Sure hope Al Qaeda doesn't get a hold of the nukes in Pakistan! 07-11-05 01:11:55 __________________________________________________
TAMARLANE ::: Favorites And then America must act to eliminate the Taliban in Pakistan. Musharraf is the only person stopping America from coming in the Pakistan to get Osama. 07-11-04 23:00:20 __________________________________________________
TAMARLANE ::: Favorites All these conspiracy theorists, or should I say paranoid people. Musharraf has been there for a long time now. I will give him credit for progress in Pakistan. Who would lead in the absence of Musharraf? I think it would be the Taliban. They are the only armed opponents to the government there. If there are more Taliban than Army, then Pakistan will go the way of the Taliban. 07-11-04 22:59:35 __________________________________________________
aikpanchi ::: Favorites You are one ignorant person. 07-11-04 23:10:09 __________________________________________________
TAMARLANE ::: Favorites educate me then 07-11-04 23:31:03 __________________________________________________
Inkan1969 ::: Favorites I'm not so sure. I think Musharraf takes advantage of this fear to keep himself in power. We shouldn't depend on one single man like this, letting him do anything he wants. 07-11-05 00:55:16 __________________________________________________
MASTERPAiNNN ::: Favorites My God, this is one Fvcked up country. I sure hope Iman Ali will be okay so she can make more stupid music videos soon. Pakmughal forever!!! 07-11-04 22:43:04 __________________________________________________ |
