Interestingly it often has to do with trading fairness for status, where status would be success and fairness would be losing. Unfortunately fairness is needed to be logical or smart, creative, or inventive. i personally ended up being a drop out because of this phenomenon. To important people i am riff raff. As things complex then this changes into survival by social preditations, with "crimes" against truth and life in a normalized and formalized way. I am from UK. and yes i agree. but remember also jamaica and its vicious homophobia, certain islamic systems that will chop hands off, stone women. it is more the patriarchal roots of cruelty, yes?
